Despite all the efforts made to produce a unique setting, Raya's storyline is very easy: every desperate situation posseses an easy resolution, and tragedies and setbacks on the heroine's path are nothing more than temporary inconveniences.
Inside the plot you can find a place for numerous action scenes that raise the degree of tension, but is not signi***antly. However, in the end, the ideas with the authors become clear, and why they decided to give Raya's adventure on this way. The film is a very common "Miyaziki-light ".Creatures, setting, plot aspects ...
every one of these could well be appropriate in a bit from Ghibli. In terms of this version from Disney, they made an effort to combine depth and entertainment. Rather, they succeeded: "Raya" entertains, allows you to escape from everyday problems, cute characters can touch you.
Moreover, regarding the characters. Things are all ambiguous here. Consider the dragon Sisu: he or she is a funny character, but he is a lot from Mushu from Mulan or Ginny from Aladdin. When Shisu is fooling around, her antics are more embarr***ng than they cause you to be smile.
Conversely, perhaps this is the reasoning: the is caricatured and, unlike other characters in Raya, works, although he is using memorable magical creatures like Toothless from DreamWorks. Raya, in contrast, introduces a whole new wave of Disney heroines: strong and independent.
Namaari, other "princess" during this film, who could be seen as being an antagonist, gets her own motives: which is a great one, for the reason that ***titious villain is now offering a certain position. It is noteworthy how the tape is free of romantic lines: friendship, cooperation, plus the fate of Kumandra are at risk here.
In recent cartoons from Disney (the sequel to Ralph and Zootopia), directors were engaged in world building and the corresponding description from the zones with the universe of the works. "Raya" also sets a target with the heroes to arrive at all five countries of Kumandra, as a way to reveal its unique appearance, mythology and geography in each place.
Consequently, this approach boosts the pace a bit: your entire film is really a tight, easy quest, when the protagonist meets new ***stants in the adventure. It looks a little bit awkward, although the film's timely message of unity and trust redeems the sloppy storytelling.
