At a meeting of the American Gynecological Society in 1920, however, the leading obstetrician Joseph DeLee recommended that physicians use episiotomy as a matter of course to prevent perineal tears, which can be a normal part of childbirth.
Today, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the UK's National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommend against routine use of episiotomy. In 2010, around 19 per cent of ***l births in England involved episiotomy. By 1979, 62.5 per cent of all births and 80 per cent of first-time ***l births in the US involved an episiotomy.
From the 1980s, however, clinical research began to indicate that episiotomy should not be considered routine medical practice. Real-life "hook ups" may be off the table for a while, but research shows that cyber-flirting and ***ting can enhance ***ual creativity and fantasy, help with ***ual and relationship satisfaction in real life and, for some, increase body confidence and a sense of desirability.
